Poker Profiles: Steven Dannenmann

Steve Dannennmann is a money expert. He proved that and more when he finally indulged in the world of Poker in 2003.

Steve was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland where he still holds residence status along with his wife and children. He was a successful accountant, financial advisor, and mortgage banker before Poker stole his attention. Although Steve is quite enjoying his stay at what he pointed out as a 'boring" world, he is not quitting his firm anytime soon. He will continue playing Poker as a sideline but never as a fulltime career.

The first two years of Steve's Poker career was spent in entering online games. At that time, he was also busy educating himself of the ins and outs of Poker by reading books. He claimed to have read not less than 15 books of Poker and that's basically what helped him find the guts to go big time. When a friend offered to enter Steve to the high stake and glamorous world of WSOP (World Series of Poker), he gladly obliged. That is one decision that will be forever embarked in his memory.

He not only performed well at the 2005 WSOP tourney, he has also managed to finish second place. The audience was left in awe. That kind of feat is something that not too many newbies are able to accomplish. Imagine, Steve outlasted almost 6,000 Poker players to appear at the final table and finishing next only to Joe Hachem? That is a quite a huge achievement for such an inexperienced player, especially since WSOP attendees are mostly of the popular, Hall of Fame kind. The good thing about Poker is that heroes are appropriately rewarded for their stunts. Steve got $4,400,000 richer after that first time WSOP experience!

Steve undoubtedly gained a lot of fans after that wonderful stunt at the WSOP. But sure, he also got tons of critics. At the press conference held right after the Main Event, Steve quipped that he found Poker to be boring, which leads Poker professionals and fans alike to raise their eyebrows. Boring or not, he certainly cannot deny the fact that sitting in his firm with a CPA title would not give him the amount of stash he was able to pile up at a single Poker event.

Anyway, Steve's best asset at the Poker table is the amount of concentration he was able to pour in the game. He does not take the game seriously but makes the right decisions that the situation calls for nevertheless. As he said, he was in it with nothing to lose and to have fun. Those two things most probably sealed the win!
